The Philippines is one of the many countries that export goods to the world. Coconut and Banana are some of the main agricultural exports in the country. The Philippines ranks second in the total number of coconut trees and it exports large volumes of its production making it first in the export of coconut oil. On the other hand, the banana is second in volume and value compared to the coconut. Mindanao has traditionally held the greater share of banana production due mainly to its available land for production. Different companies and farmer cooperatives along with various stakeholders in the supply chain for both crops were consulted in the formulation of the Regional Strategic Investment Plan (RSIP) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) XI under the Rural Agro-Industrial Partnership for Inclusive Development (RAPID) Growth project.
