Innovation is one of the key factors in developing start-up businesses. To protect these innovations and maximize the opportunities for business growth, sustainability, and competitiveness in the market, it is crucial that companies understand intellectual property (IP) and develop an IP strategy that aligns with the business's core.

The Philippines possesses much opportunity as a start-up ecosystem, ranking 36th in the annual Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER). To take advantage of this opportunity, relevant actors must help pave the way for discussions on intellectual property for start-ups. It is for this reason that the ECCP and its Intellectual Property Committee, in partnership with IP SME Helpdesk, is organizing a webinar entitled "IP 101: The Fundamentals of Intellectual Property for the Start-Up Sector", which will feature success stories in start-up in the Philippines. This discussion will also provide a walkthrough of how IP plays a role in this sector, as well as how IP infringement may be addressed.
