Dear ECCP Member,

Meeting the water needs of society, business and the environment in the future will be heavily constrained by the scarcity and quality of freshwater.  (WWF/ DEG)

Although water is still abundant in many areas, the country faces the threat of emerging water crisis.  Water security and sustainability is threatened by deforestation, rapid urban development, inadequate water resource management, and the impact of climate change. Increasing water demand has already led to water stress in a number of regions and at least nine key urban centers.

The Philippine government recognizes the multidimensional role of water in Philippine society for basic needs and economic growth.  Water conservation and the efficient and effective management of water resources are fundamental to achieving inclusive economic growth and sustainable development.

In this connection, ECCP would like to invite you to the ECCP Forum on Water Matters: Promoting Public-Private Partnerships on the 29th of November 2012, 8:30 am to 11:30 am at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza.

The forum will discuss how public private partnerships can be promoted to tackle the huge investment requirements for financing, constructing, operating, maintaining, and rehabilitating major infrastructures in the water sector, from fresh water to wastewater treatment. We expect to be briefed on the various water projects lined up under the Public-Private Partnership Program of the Philippines.

Furthermore the forum will also discuss lessons learned especially on the challenges and successes in implementing PPP Projects from a private sector perspective. It will also look at business opportunities on countryside water supply development.

We hope that you find this forum interesting and look forward to your participation in the event.
