These past few months, we have witnessed the COVID-19 outbreak exponentially growing into an international health crisis. Zooming in on the local context, the Philippines has experienced challenges in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic with some constraints on the health (i.e, shortage of testing kits) and economic side. In this context, the accurate forecast of the COVID-19 spread in the Philippines seems to be a daunting task. On the economic front, the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) projects that extending the ECQ by one more month can cost the Philippine economy at least PHP 150 billion.
With this in mind, the ECCP is organizing a Special COVID-19 Webinar entitled “COVID-19 Forecasts in the Philippines: Insights for Community Quarantine Policy Making” on 24 April 2020, 2:00 pm. The University of the Philippines (UP) will share the key findings of their recently released research paper. Learn more and understand the forecasts to make informed decisions and craft appropriate strategies moving forward.
