Facilitator’s Profile:

Dr. John CHENG is trained in electrical and electronic engineering in all his degrees, where he received the B.Eng (Hon.) degree in electrical engineering from the University of Technology, Johor, Malaysia, in 1998 and the M.Sc. degree in electrical power engineering from the National University of Singapore, Singapore, in 1999. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2007 from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in the area of power electronics.

He started his career as lecturer in one of the Singapore higher institutions and later joined the industry workforce as Product Marketing Engineer in a Singapore local company. He joined SE Singapore in 2005 as an Application Engineer and since then he holds various office positions (including Advanced Application Development Manager, Energy Efficiency Manager and Marketing Manager) within SE Singapore prior to joining the Advanced Services (Energy Efficiency) team in SE South East Asia (HQ) located in Singapore as Engineering Manager in June 2010. He was trained as power quality (PQ) engineer from 2005-2006 in the USA under the Power System Engineering department of Schneider Electric Engineering Services, USA. He has been involved in solving various PQ issues in the USA as well as South East Asia since 2005. His areas of interest include site investigation and analyzing of power quality issues and practical implementation of mitigation solutions.

He is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) USA, Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), USA and Chartered Engineer (CEng) UK. He is also the member of IEEE (USA), IET (UK) and AEE (USA).
