Committee Dialogue

The ECCP's 24 sector committees regularly meet to discuss issues and actionable solutions, which are then elevated to the government through a series of advocacy tools which include letters to members of the government, drafting of bills, creation of position papers on proposed reforms or current issues, and a collection of Advocacy Papers published every year. ECCP positions cover crosscutting issues and sector specific position papers, listing key recommendations on actions needed to support market access for European businesses and enable long term economic welfare for the Philippines.

One of the committees is the Education Advocacy Committee, spearheaded by the ECCP-Southern Mindanao Business Council lead by Chairman Mr. Antonio Peralta, aims to bring together higher educational institutions (HEIs) in the region and give them a role to play in shaping the future of Mindanao's growing economy. The platform fosters cooperation between HEIs and their counterparts in the Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines - East ASEAN Growth Areas (BIMP-EAGA).

It is in this light that the Chamber is organizing another Education Advocacy-led forum called, Advancing the Education Landscape in Mindanao: Integrating Strategies in Developing Internationalization scheduled on May 10, 2024 from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM, at St. Michael's College, Iligan City. This event aims to gather all the higher educational institutions (HEIs) in the Northern Mindanao region to discuss on how to strengthen the future of education by advancing each school's internationalization efforts through strategy-integration with esteemed speakers from the ECCP Education Advocacy Committee Chair Mr. Antonio Peralta, ECCP Northern Member and St. Michael's College Vice-President for Academic Affairs Dr. Korsiney Cabasis, Xavier University - Office of International Cooperation and Networking Director Dr. Shiella C. Balbutin, and CHED Education Supervisor Dr. Arlita Amapola Minguez.
