Throughout the years, interest in data privacy has seen a visible increase as customers become increasingly cautious on sharing their data and as the government tightens regulations in relation to data privacy. Real estate businesses including landlords and property management companies handle a substantial amount of sensitive personal information from their clients on a regular basis. The COVID-19 pandemic has also increased the volume of sharing of personal data, as establishments were required to collect personal information for contact tracing purposes.
As customers and businesses further adopt digital technology in their day-to-day operations, it is important to know and be aware of who has access to this information and how they are used to protect oneself. It is to this end that the ECCP, through its Real Estate Committee, is conducting a webinar entitled, "Data Privacy in Office Leasing" on 5 May 2022, 4:00 PM via Zoom to examine current data privacy regulations with the aim of providing the attendees' insights on what can and must be done by those in the real estate sector in order to protect and respect data privacy rights.
This webinar will feature resource speakers from Quisumbing Torres who will tackle the topic of data privacy, as applied to the real estate sector. They will be discussing the guidelines for public and private establishments on the (i) use of CCTVs (ii) Covid-related collection of personal information, and (iii) practical examples on the handling of personal data by landlords and property management companies.
