European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines
Europe-PH News
The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) recently hosted a delegation of European Union members of parliament (MPs) who visited the country to identify opportunities and measures that can further strengthen Philippine-European relations.
The lawmakers and the chamber discussed prospects for the signing of a free trade agreement between Europe and the Philippines which the chamber expects can be done before 2016.
They also discussed the push for integrity and a level playing field, including the formulation of a competition policy as well as opening up the constitution to allow more market competition to take effect in business development.
The ECCP also brought forward the idea that Europe can engage the Philippines on healthcare and food security concerns.
The MPs were led by Chairman Werner Langen and accompanied by the EU head of delegation, Ambassador Guy Ledoux. Other MPs who visited ECCP were Robert Goebbels, Iyo Belet, Roger Helmer, Barbara Weiler, Adam Bielan, and Slawomir Nitras. The EU delegation’s head of trade section Andrea Fennez was also present.
