On March 11 to 13, the ECCP, represented by Executive Director Florian Gottein, and ECCP subsidiary Fairs and More Inc. General Manager Dawn Francisco-Cabigon, recently attended the 3rd annual Sustainability Week Asia in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Sustainability Week Asia brought together sustainability changemakers, purpose-driven consumers, and business leaders to equip participants with the tools needed to transition faster to net-zero. The event featured in-depth panels and private roundtable discussions on topics such as the net-zero agenda, carbon markets, supply chains and circularity, the energy transition, and sustainable transportation and mobility.
On the topic of climate change, Economist Impact stressed that the urgency of combating climate change cannot be overstated. "Businesses are in a unique position to lead the charge and protect our region from the devastating impacts of the climate crisis. But how can we accelerate progress? What immediate actions can we take?”
Building on the learnings from Sustainability Week Asia, the ECCP is gearing up to organize the Race to Net Zero Philippines 2024 for the second time. This countrywide initiative is designed to align with the Global Race to Zero campaign and lead the way in the Philippines by rallying non-state actors – including companies, cities, regions, financial institutions, educational institutions, and healthcare providers – to take decisive and immediate action to cut global emissions in half by 2030. This initiative also further aligns with the Chamber's goal in creating a healthier, fairer, and net-zero world for all.
Stay tuned for updates on how to be involved in the Race to Net Zero Philippines 2024 and be part of this crucial mission of driving sustainable change across communities.
