Labor and Employment Under secretary Lourdes Transmonte said in media forum yesterday that DOLE has coordinated with local business organizations and recruitment agencies for possible job placements for repatriated OFWs from Libya.
"We have already collated the profile and contact numbers of OFWs upon their arrival which we will pass to potential employers," she said.
She said these jobs include 6,000 vacancies for highly skilled workers from the job fair to be organized by the Untied States embassy on March 18 to 20 at SM North EDSA, where at least 30 US companies will participate. She also said the Caraga Mining Industrial Tripartite Council has guaranteed 392 job vacancies for engineers and other skilled workers.
Philippine Overseas Employment Administration POEA Administrator Carlos Cao Jr. assured the public that POEA has already met with the 85 recruitment agencies which have sent workers to Libya for the possible redeployment of the affected OFWs to other countries, including Angola, Oman, Kuwait, and Guam.
For Guam we are expecting about 10,000 jobs for our OFWs, In Angola, Oman, and Kuwait we still can't provide any figures at the moment he said.
