The ECCP was represented at the Department of Energy Public Consultation on the Draft Department Circular on Prescribing the Guidelines for the Endorsement of Energy Efficiency Projects to the Board of Investments for Fiscal Incentives, last 25 September. The Draft Department Circular is based on the provisions of Republic Act No. 11285 or the Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C) Act, signed in 2019.
In his opening remarks, DOE Undersecretary Jesus Posadas highlighted the importance of the energy sector in the economic recovery as well as job restoration and generation, especially considering the wide impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, he stressed that energy development and use must be balanced with preserving the environment and our resources. The passage and effective implementation of the EE&C Act is one of the key and long-standing priorities of the ECCP Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Committee.
