Four new publications are added to the collection of the Materials Library at the Materials Innovation Centre (MATIC). These provide designers, product developers and students with more resources that heighten their creativity and innovation.
THE MATERIALS MATTERS
This is a sourcebook on material manipulation for the homestyle industry. It features the art of manipulating indigenous raw materials to improve their characteristics and bare something new that can be used by product developers and designers. Featured materials are abaca, rattan, buri, metal, wood, capiz, among others.
PHILIPPINE ETHNIC PATTERNS: A DESIGN SOURCEBOOK
The book is a rich source of design inspiration with cultural reference for designers and product developers. Patterns are bundled according to materials, processes used to achieve such patterns, and provenance.
